An update sharing a link to the request so far.

Here is the current list of requests

Confession…I’m falling behind! Luckily, I have till the 22nd to get them in the mail.

If you do participate, why not create a quick word cloud highlighting that person’s special traits? Then print it out on the paper you’ll use for your letter.

Finally! You’re doing something with your life!

Here’s a link to my post’s 1-minute look at the More Love Letters project’s first request:

My first response to the story linked below: Admiration.

Then: “And you think it’s a big deal when you roll a neighbor’s trash barrels in every Tuesday morning.”

Yep, seems I could be doing more in my spare time.

So, once I get past the shame and embarrassment [I’ll need coffee and a scone to help me along], I’m going to let these impressive kids inspire me to simply get more done.

AND…super citizen that I am, I’ll STILL roll in those trash barrels!

What really interests me: Interviewing retirees

Q and A imprinted in wood

Continuing my persistent effort at ‘trying new’…

Since I’ve retired, I’ve always been interested in how other folks in their next chapter are adjusting to and enjoying this new stage.

I penned out a long list of questions I’d like to ask others. Here’s a sampling.

  1. What new things do you most want to do?
  2. What old things do you most want to revisit now that you probably have more time?
  3. What do you want to be on guard against? [i.e. bad habits, etc.]
  4. Is there anything you would want to teach others to do?
  5. What has surprised you about yourself since you retired?

Let me know if you’d like to either send text answers or opt for a quick audio interview.

3 alternatives to ‘retirement’ or ‘next chapter’

Retirement synonyms word cloud

That whole ‘next chapter’ term I’ve used…there is something just creepy or other-worldly to it.

I keep seeing me sneaking past St. Peter and the pearly gates [‘sneaking past’, mind you…not assuming I’ve earned my way in.] and floating in the stratosphere and dodging all of the satellites Elon Musk is planning to launch and wondering what’s on the menu at Nirvana Cafe and if the coffee is beyond decent up there because if it’s not, then I’ll take my chances back down on Earth…

Anywaaay, thesaurus.com’s alternatives to retirement. Blecch!

“Waiting for something different to happen after you retire is not a plan and may lead to discontent.”
